Here’s a short post dedicated to my pups: Simba and Chanel. Simba is a Pomapoo (Pomeranian and Poodle mix) and Chanel is a Shihpoo (Shih Tzu and Poodle mix). Since they’re both poodle mixes, no shedding! These two are super cuddly and extremely spoiled.
Here is Simba:
Simba is as spoiled as they get–he loves to sit in my lap every chance he gets. He even begs for me to pick him up. Although he’s a love bug and looks like a teddy bear, Simba actually is a little devil. He’s not a fan of kids nor does he like new people–he barks at any guests or workers we have come over.
Chanel is almost the complete opposite. She’s more independent and less needy than Simba. She LOVES all people–new and unfamiliar, kids–anyone! Chanel is also the quiet one. Here she is:
Occasionally, I’ll post about the pups and where I like to take them, what their favorite toys and snacks are, and which dog products we recommend.
Here’s a sweet little picture of Mr. and Mrs. Santa Paws from Christmas to end this post with!

Maybe the best way to start a blog is to start with why I’m starting a blog. That might be answered with a little bit about me. First, I’m a stay at home dog mom and housewife — the best career choice out there! I actually really do love it, but unfortunately, I can’t do that forever–we’ve got bills to pay! The truth is, I’m currently unemployed. I recently graduated law school and was admitted to the state bar, but finding a job is tough with little to no experience in such a competitive job market. Meanwhile, I decided to start this blog since it’s something I’ve wanted to do for years but never got around to. So now that I have a little extra time on my hands, here we are.
I personally don’t actually read other blogs unless I come across them searching for something specific. So, I’ll start by saying that I don’t even know how to blog, but I’m sure I’ll get the hang of it, right? I wanted to create a space for myself to reflect on different aspects of my life: my home, my pups, fashion, fitness, and law. By no means do I consider myself a professional in any category (except I guess law by degree), but what do I have to lose?
My life isn’t glamorous like other bloggers’ lives seem to be in their pictures. My husband is an engineer and we’re currently living off one income in northern California–one of the most expensive parts of the country. My husband and I were married a year and a half ago and recently bought our first home. So maybe this blog will be a journey through the next chapters in my life.
Why Icing on the Pup Cake?
Because “icing on the cake” is a popular phrase about making something good even better, and because in life, dogs are the icing on the cake… and I’m obsessed with dogs.
